Chapter Meeting - Sep 12th, 2013 (11:30 am)
Global Leadership and the Challenge of Influencing across Borders
Populations are shifting. Wealth distributions are shifting. Talent pools are shifting. A new environment has emerged where your competitor in one country may be your partner in another. Are you ready for this change? Can you lead a global team?
With increasing frequency executives, managers, and professionals are being asked to lead global teams. In some instances they may relocate and lead teams as an expatriate in another country. Others may be asked to lead a diverse group of business units scattered across time zones. While some of the leadership skills that have been acquired in a domestic setting may prove useful in this new international context, new competencies are necessary to be an effective global leader.
Learning Objectives: After this presentation participants will be able to:
1. Identify the megatrends challenging future leaders including population shifts, urbanization, and changes in the distribution of wealth
2. Recognize their own cultural lens
3. Understand alternative views of leadership from around the globe
4. Understand how to effectively build trust in international teams
